Sometimes All You Can Do Is Nothing

Happy Wednesday!!!

Tapping this post bedside on my phone while I am still waiting to get well with this bronchitis!

Been to the doctor – check! Taking meds – check! Plenty of fluids – check! Nutritious diet – check. Bed rest, kinda – taking an extended trip last week with bronchitis wasn’t the brightest move, but oh dear some things can’t be postponed and I am thankful to say the Lord helped me through the trip – strength by strength. Only I’ve kinda paid since our return and as I’ve had asthma many years I well know bronchitis likes to takes it’s sweet time about clearing up!

What a way to begin the new year,…but training in patience is not always a bad thing.

Sometimes in life there are situations when all you can do is nothing. Situations more frustrating than being sidelined with bronchitis.

After all,…are all the plans and projects I scheduled really THAT important? Obviously the Lord doesn’t think they are as I wouldn’t be so sidelined,…and that’s a great incentive to reevaluate my priorities.

Flexing some faith is also in order,…

Psalm 23

A psalm of David.

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.

He makes me lie down in green pastures,

he leads me beside quiet waters,

he refreshes my soul.

He guides me along the right paths

for his name’s sake.

Even though I walk

through the darkest valley,

I will fear no evil,

for you are with me;

your rod and your staff,

they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me

in the presence of my enemies.

You anoint my head with oil;

my cup overflows.

Surely your goodness and love will follow me

all the days of my life,

and I will dwell in the house of the Lord

forever.

“…makes me lie down in green pastures.” – oh those stubborn sheep, or even yet exhausted toddlers refusing to lie down for a nap.

Sometimes all we can do is nothing,…but while we rest,…the Lord is at work,…providing, protecting, and planning for our future! – that’s not a bad lesson to garner for the new year!

God bless!
