“The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4: 5-7
That’s why I am a woman of faith. I can’t do life without the LORD.
Jesus doesn’t pull any punches, “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16: 33
No one wants trouble, or setbacks, or challenges, but it’s a part of the human condition in this fallen world. Perhaps that’s why the LORD urges us, “…Love one another.” The world needs more love. The world needs more kindness. Everyone has issues. Everyone wears masks, and at some point in our lives, we’ve all said, “I am fine,” when in reality we are suffering in silent despair.
But we don’t have to despair.
“The Lord is near,” – nearer than we’ll ever know.
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
That promise is not just for the big stuff, which it totally covers, but it’s also for daily life here in the 21st century. Troubles, we’re going to have. I am not perfect, and I won’t pretend to be, but I have faith in a loving God, the essence of perfection.
“For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” John 3:16-17
Salvation saved my life. Not just my eternal destination, but life here on Earth.
“I come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” John 10:10
That’s peace that transcends all understanding no matter what the circumstances, and it’s joy.
“The joy of the Lord is your strength.” Nehemiah 8:10
Joy over despair, any day!
